The first day birding in Turkey was to the mountain village of Seki. Weather was generally dry though muddy underfoot after the recent rains.
A prime objective in visiting this site was to find White-throated Robin, my only previous sighting of this species being on Lesvos many years ago.
The slopes either side of the road were open grassy areas interspersed with dense scrub, all of which I carefully checked. However, it took an hour and a half to find a WTR, which was a male, singing from a garden fence. The bird eventually gave excellent views in the garden. On the other side of the road a pair were also found, the female being seen well.
Also present in the area was a Tawny Pipit, a pair of Woodlark, a female Cretzschmar's Bunting, a pair of E. Black-eared Wheatear, several Red-backed Shrike, a Woodchat, and not least a singing Ruppell's Warbler.
