Lesvos day 1 - 21/04/25

Staying in the north of the island a convenient local patch is the Molyvos reservoir and surrounding area. Weather was warm and sunny for the visit there

On the reservoir itself were 20 Ruddy Shelduck, about half a dozen Wood Sandpipers, a Greenshank and inevitable Yellow-legged Gulls.

In the adjacent scrub and on hillside paths we found a Short toed Eagle, three Masked Shrike, a Red backed Shrike, three Woodchat Shrike, two Whinchat, two Black-eared Wheatear, a Nightingale, a Cirl Bunting and several E Subalpine Warblers.

Later in the day we explored the Tsiknias River seeing many Bee-eaters. A Whiskered Tern flew towards the river mouth. We also had brief views of both Baillons Crake and Little Crake.
