A quieter day on the island nevertheless good by any standards.
The fields opposite the saltpans had 10 White Storks early morning, a Whiskered Tern flew through and Bee-eaters were again showing well.
In sand dunes beyond the race track around six Red-throated Pipits were seen/heard, also several Short-toed Larks and a Tawny Pipit.
Later I went to the north of the island, visiting first the Perasma reservoir near Molivos. In addition to the abundant Yellow-legged Gulls there were a fair number of Ruddy Shelduck, one pair having ducklings.
So far the usual site at Kavaki has not been successful for seeing Ruppell's Warbler this year and today was no different. I also walked the track on the opposite side of the road with Subalpine Warblers and female Black-eared Wheatear the main sightings.
On route back to Kaloni I checked out a site near Dafia where singing Bonelli's Warbler had been heard earlier in the day. No sign of any during my time there, though two singing Cretzschmar's Buntings were enjoyed, plus Black-eared Wheatear and a Short-toed Eagle flew over.
