Warm and sunny today with less wind.

The day started well with fantastic views of Great Snipe, which has been here about a week. The location was a small wetland near Achladeri, which also had numerous Little Stint and several Wood Sandpiper. I watched from the car with the bird to myself until several other cars arrived, people got out, and you can guess the rest.

From there I checked out some olive groves in the area hoping to find Olive-Tree Warbler. No sign of any unfortunately, but did find Orphean Warbler and tried to identify other songs being heard.

Then to the raptor watchpoint near Kaloni, arriving at midday so a bit late in the day. Despite that over the next two hours there were singles of Eleonora's Falcon, Lesser Kestrel, Short-toed Eagle and Goshawk, plus two Black Stork. The distinctive song of Cretzschmar's Bunting was heard and two Subalpine Warbler seen.

The last two hours of the day were spent near Metochi, not the usual wetland site, instead another olive grove. Olive-Tree Warblers had been reported there, and I managed to hear two singing birds plus brief views as they flew from one tree to another then disappeared under cover, sometimes pausing briefly.

Also present were at least two Masked Shrikes, two Orphean Warblers, while an Alpine Swift flew over.

A small reservoir nearby held two Night Herons, though best of all a female Little Crake.
